Our shelters operate 24/7/365.
Please note that before employment can be offered or start, clearance must be obtained through the Suffolk County Dept.
of Social Services; background check, CPS history, State Central Registry, and fingerprinting at a cost of $75, which will be reimbursed after 3 months of employment.
ALL SHIFTS AVAILABLE! Shifts run 8am-4pm, 4pm-12am, 12am-8am 7 days a week.
The Shelter worker is responsible for monitoring and logging the activities of residents of the shelter/center and to ensure compliance with program rules and expectations.
He/she is also responsible for ensuring the safety of residents and the security and sanitation of the program, completing intakes, doing some laundry, cleaning, food handling, etc.
, in order to remain in compliance with county and state guidelines.
Experience in a related field is not necessary but is preferred.
Training is provided.
We are seeking individuals who can think on their feet, find creative solutions, and prevent and deescalate conflicts with respect and empathy.
